Series consists of files on long service Hudson's Bay Company employees who retired under the provisions of the company's 1945 Retirement Allowance Plan, or earlier plans. The files concern the payment of pensions or grants to former employees and their dependants, and may also include material about their employment, such as records of service. Material on an individual employee may appear in more than one file. The last item of the series is a list of 1945 pensioners. Files are arranged alphabetically, and then chronologically.

Custodial History

Records of the Canadian Committee were kept at Hudson's Bay House in Winnipeg, where the Canadian Committee Office was located until its dissolution in 1970. From 1975 to 1987, records formerly maintained by the committee, and no longer of use to the Winnipeg head office, were transferred regularly to the Hudson's Bay Company Archives where they were held on deposit. In 1994, the HBC donated its records to the Province of Manitoba to be maintained permanently by the Archives of Manitoba.
