Scope and Content 

 

Fonds consists of research material, notes, publications, articles, copies of legislation, clippings, arguments, exhibits and evidence created and used by Isaac Pitblado in his work as counsel for various freight rate cases, grain marketing cases, the Royal Grain Inquiry Commission, the Winnipeg General Strike trials, the Perdue Commission (appointed to investigate the charges made by C. P. Fullerton, K.C.), the formation of the United Church of Canada and other cases.

Many of the published materials in this fonds are identified as belonging to Isaac Pitblado on their front covers and contain annotations including suggested revisions and other notes.

Fonds also contains Christmas cards received by Pitblado in the mid-1950s, stamp collecting magazines and catalogues and a copy of "Robert Burns: His life and poetry. An address delivered by Rev. Charles Bruce Pitblado, 1884" with a foreword by and published by Isaac Pitblado in 1955.

Isaac Pitblado (1867-1964) was a Manitoba lawyer who acted as counsel for many important cases including various freight rate and grain marketing cases and several royal commissions.

Custodial History 

 

Most of these records were donated to the Archives of Manitoba by Edward Pitblado, Isaac Pitblado's son, in 1965.
The Winnipeg General Strike scrapbook was donated to the Archives of Manitoba by the Prothonotary, Court of Queen's Bench, also in 1965.

The Pitblado Family fonds is held by the University of Manitoba Archives.
