Biographical Sketch or Administrative History |
The Searchlight Book Club was a women's social and literary club founded in Winnipeg in 1910. Its aim was the mutual aid and improvement of its members through the research, study, and discussion of various subjects, with a particularly strong focus on art in the 1910s and 1920s (during which the club referred to itself as the Searchlight Art Club). In the early 1930s, the club took on its definitive identity as a literary club, a focus it maintained until the 1970s. Membership was limited to twenty and the club met ten times per year. It is not known when the Searchlight Book Club was officially disbanded. |
