Notes 

This film is described as follows in the Manitoba Department of Agriculture's 1983 Audio Visual Catalogue: "Shows the step-by-step construction of the 65 million dollar floodway diverting the Red River around the city of Winnipeg."
Film includes footage of flooding and sandbagging in 1966. There is footage of the groundbreaking ceremony in 1962, and the film briefly shows the construction of the Shellmouth Reservoir and conduit and the Portage Diversion. The film shows test excavations for the floodway and the use of engineering facilities at the University of Manitoba to study inlet and outlet structures. Also shows the heavy equipment used to build the floodway; also explains how the floodway works and shows the opening ceremonies on October 11, 1968. Concludes with aerial footage of the floodway in operation.
