Scope and Content 


Collection contains a scrapbook of the International Association of Gyro Clubs convention in Winnipeg from June 21 to 25, 1926 at the Royal Alexandria Hotel. This convention was promoted as the largest international service club gathering held in Canada. The scrapbook contains invitations to the convention from the Gyro Club of Winnipeg and other partnered organizations such as the City of Winnipeg and the Winnipeg Tourist and Convention Bureau. Scrapbook also holds other documentation regarding the convention including correspondence, newspaper clippings, badges, hat bands, tickets, programmes, pamphlets, and lists of registered delegates.


Administrative History or Biographical Sketch 


The Gyro Club of Winnipeg (est. 1920) was the local chapter of Gyro International (formerly International Association of Gyro Clubs), a fraternal organization that promoted friendship and cooperation.

Custodial History 


Scrapbook was donated to the Archives of Manitoba by J.L. Leitch in 1981. Scrapbook was part of the estate of Stafford N. Currie, who was a Winnipeg delegate to the 1926 International Association of Gyro Clubs convention in Winnipeg.
