Scope and Content 


This series consists of the depositions of W.H. McNeill, John Kennedy, and Peter Duncan regarding a mutiny on board the S.S. Beaver in 1838. This volume also consists of a statement of the number of dry and rainy days at Fort Simpson from 1831-1841.

Custodial History 


The Archives Department of the Hudson's Bay Company was created in London in the 1920s. The Archives Department had custody of the records until they were transferred on deposit to the Archives of Manitoba in 1974, according to the 1973 Agreement between the HBC and the Province of Manitoba. In 1994, the HBC donated the records to the Province to be maintained permanently by the Archives of Manitoba.

This series was created from a series classified as "miscellaneous" in the previous classification scheme. Miscellaneous series were created for documents that did not fit into the Hudson's Bay Company Archives' original series classification scheme that was developed and applied in the 1920s. These records may have been connected originally to records in other series, but their context of creation has been lost.
